Youth Training Programme

1. Certificate In Furniture Design And Making (FDM)

The Furniture Design and Making (FDM) is a programme which offers industrial skills training and knowledge on the wood-based industry to young designers and fresh graduates.

Upon completing the programme, trainees will be able to contribute professionally towards sustaining the growth of the Malaysian wood-based industry.

The objectives of the programme are as follows:
  • To provide higher employability in the wood-based industry for graduates.
  • To provide enhanced career growth for graduates.
  • To provide industry knowledge and skills through hands-on training; and
  • To provide the large pools of designers in the timber industry.
Entry Requirements
  1. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in furniture design.
  2. Age between 18 to 25 years.
  3. Has strong interest in the field and has intention to work with the industry or wish to be an entrepreneur.
Competencies Module
The programme is structured for attainment of specific competencies. Details of the module is as below:

Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction will be in English and Bahasa Melayu.

Duration of Programme
2 months

Certification
Upon successfully completing the programme, trainees will be awarded the Certificate of Competency which is recognized by MTIB and the industry.

Fully Sponsored Programme
Training fees are fully sponsored by MTIB. This includes registration, accommodation and transport. A subsistence allowance is also provided for all participants.

2. Professional Management Development Programme (PMD)

The Professional Management Development Programme (PMD) is a programme which offers industrial skills training and knowledge on the wood-based industry to young executives and fresh graduates. The structured practical training also involves exposure to business practices in the industry.

Upon completing the programme, trainees will be able to contribute professionally towards sustaining the growth of the Malaysian wood-based industry.

The objectives of the programme are as follows:
  • To provide higher employability in the wood-based industry for graduates.
  • To provide enhanced career growth for young executives.
  • To provide industry knowledge and skills through hands-on training; and
  • To produce supervisory and managerial skills in managing the competitive timber industry
Entry Requirements
  1. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in any field.
  2. Has strong interest in the field and has intention to work with the industry or wish to be an entrepreneur.

3. Teknologi Pemprosesan Perabot (KV WISDEC)

Program kerjasama Kolej Vokasional, Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM). Merupakan satu program latihan berstruktur yang menawarkan latihan kemahiran industri dan pendedahan awal mengenai industri berasaskan kayu kepada pelatih yang berminat untuk membina kerjaya dalam industri berasaskan kayu. Kaedah latihan menekankan latihan secara’hands-on’ yang mana pelatih akan menggunakan kebanyakan masa untuk menjalani kerja-kerja praktikal. Ia dilengkapi lagi dengan latihan secara formal do dalam kelas.

4. Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional (SLDN)

Program kerjasama Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK). SLDN adalah satu konsep latihan yang melibatkan latihan yang dijalankan di dua tempat pembelajaran iaitu di Syarikat SLDN/industri (praktikal) yang meliputi 70% hingga 80% dan di Pusat Latihan SLDN (teori) yang meliputi 20% hingga 30%.
