Human resources development is vital in
efforts to enhance the viability of the timber industry. With emphasis
on production of value-added timber products for export, a multitude of
skill in various fields of production and support services are desired.
MTIB has established the WISDEC to provide skills training and to assist
the value-added processing sector in overcoming problems of shortage in
skilled manpower and help increase workers' productivity.
WISDEC was established with the following
objectives :

Facilities at WISDEC |
|
WISDEC is located at the furniture complex
in Olak Lempit, Banting about 70 km from Kuala Lumpur. WISDEC also provides
hostel accomodation for those who wish to stay at the training centre
during the period of training. The training workshop is equipped with
some of the latest woodworking machinery intended to provide 'hands-on'
training to trainees.
WISDEC is equipped with the following facilities

- Lecture rooms that can be accomodate
100 trainees at any one time
- CAD/CAM training facilities
- Resource centre with the latest information
on furniture production and technoogy development in form of courses
& seminar notes, books, magazine, video tapes, slides etc.
- Workshop with the latest woodworking
machineries
- Comfortable accomodation for 40 trainees
at any one time
- Transportation is provided from the
place of accomodation to WISDEC
