 MTIB ISSUES "STATEMENT OF LEGALITY OF TIMBER
SOURCE" CERTIFICATES
Exporters of timber and timber
products from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah can now obtain certification
from MTIB that verifies their timber consignments are from legal sources.
A Timber Export Bulletin No: 18/87 on the Use of "Statement on Legality
of Timber Source" Certificate for the Export of Timber/Timber Products
from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, issued on 22 December 2004, provided
guidelines on the mechanism involved in the issuance process. This voluntary
procedure allows exporters to apply for the certificate, which is based
on declarations by various government authorities, and includes imported
timbers as well.
Applications can be submitted at all MTIB
offices.
