DISTRIBUTION

Mainly confined to peat swamp forests of Sarawak.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The sapwood is pale yellow to yellowish brown and distinct from the heartwood, which is red-dish dark brown.

Grain is straight or shallowly interlocked.

Texture is rather fine and even.

Vessels are mainly solitary, sometimes in radial groups; tyloses are abundant.

Wood parenchyma is predominantly of the paratracheal type.

Rays are fine to medium-sized.

Intercellular canals of the vertical type occur in continuous tangential series.

 

USES

Used for interior construction, flooring and boat construction.
