Dacrydium spp, Falcatifolium falciforme and Phyllocladus spp. 

DISTRIBUTION

Found generally in hill and mountain forests with some species found in peat swamp forests.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The sapwood is not differentiated from the heartwood, which is buff with a pinkish tinge orgolden brown.

Grain is straight.

Texture is very fine and even.

Vessels are absent.

Tracheids are in radial rows.

Wood parenchyma is indistinct.

Rays are very fine and not conspixuous. 

USES

Used for decorative work, panelling, partitioning, veneer and plywood, joinery and furniture manufacture.
