Eucalyptus spp. 

DISTRIBUTION

Occurs along rivers, streams and river valleys that flood ephemerally.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The sapwood is white, cream or light pinkish while the heartwood is light brown to reddishbrown and darkens on exposure.

Grain is straight to interlocked.

Texture is rather coarse with slight luster.

Growth rings are indistinct sometimes evident.

Vessels are diffuse, solitary, sometimes with cluster and variable in sizes, oblique arrangement prominent; without deposits, tyloses are moderately abundant to very abundant.

Wood parenchyma moderately abundant to abundant, paratracheal and apotracheal types present, diffuse and vasicentric parenchyma present.

Rays are very fine and not visible to the naked eye.

Ripple marks are absent.

Gum canal (Kino veins) presents. 

 

USES

Suitable for door, window frame, interior finishing, flooring, charcoal and pulp and paper manufacture.
