DISTRIBUTION

Found mainly in Sarawak.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The sapwood is yellow and fairly distinct from the heartwood, which is pale yellowish brown.

Grain is straight or shallowly interlocked.

Texture is rather fine and even.

Vessels are moderately small to medium-sized, moderately numerous, mostly solitary, others in radial pairs and radial multiples of three to four or rarely more and a few clusters; perforation plates simple. Tyloses are sparse or absent.

Wood parenchyma, except for the narrow terminal layers, is indistinct even with a hand lens.

Rays are moderately fine to medium-sized, visible to the naked eye on the cross-section.

 

USES

Used as a general utility timber.
