DISTRIBUTION

Found in well-defined forests, lowlands and hill-sides.

  

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The sapwood is not well-defined from the heartwood, which is pale yellow to yellowbrown.

Grain is straight or deeply interlocked.

Texture is fine and even.

Vessels are numerous, very small to small, mostly small, in radial groups of two to four, rarely more. Light coloured deposits are sometimes present.

Wood parenchyma is scarce; if present it is in diffused patches.

Rays are very fine to moderately fine, just visible to the naked eye. 

 

USES

Used for posts and fences but the bigger logs may be converted for interior finishing, panelling and for door and window frames.
