In exercise
of the power conferred by section 34(2)of the MTIB(Incorporation)(Amendment)
1990, MTIB with the approval of the Minister requires that all timber
exporters, suppliers, processors, graders and jetty operators to be registered
with MTIB.
REGISTRATION
FORM
An application
for registration needs to fill a form which is provided by MTIB at a price
of RM1.00. Forms are available at MTIB's Headquarters and all branch offices.
Registration forms comprise of:-
a) Form A
- Application for new registration as an exporter, supplier, timber processor
and jetty operator,

- Application for new registration as a timber grader,

- Application for renewal of registration as an exporter, supplier, processor
and jetty operator,

- Application for renewal of registration as a timber grader.

GUIDELINE
FOR REGISTRATION AS A TIMBER EXPORTER
Applicants
need to submit form A together with complete documents as listed below:-
i)
Company with Sole Proprietorship/ Partnership status
a) A copy of Business Registration Certificate issued by The Registration
of Business Ordinance, 1956.
b) A copy of Form A (membership) in Business.
c) A copy of Form B (Alteration of Membership) in Business.
ii)
Company with Private Limited status
a) A copy of Incorporation of Company under the Companies Act 1965.
b) A copy of Memorandum and Articles of Association.
c) A copy of Form 24 - indicating details of company share holders and
the number of shares held.
d) A copy of Form 49 - indicating the Board of Directors in the company.
e) A certified letter from company secretary indicating the issued paid-up
capital of the company.
f) An Export Department Organisation chart indicating the names, position
and staff responsible in the export division.
g) Names and particulars of working experience of individual responsible
in the export division.
h) Applicants need to be a member of any timber association recognized
under the MTIB Act 105 (Incorporation)(Amendment) 1990 (Appendix 3) in
accordance to products produced.
iii)Company
With Mill
a) A company with own mill need to submit mill licence issued by the State
Forestry Department.
or
b) A company with a rented mill need to submit a copy of Rental Agreement
and a letter of approval from the State Forestry Department.
or
c) A company with a partly rent mill need to submit a copy of Rental Agreement
and a letter of approval from the State Forestry Department.
iv)
Company Without Mill
a)For
trader exporter company (without mill) need to submit 1 supporting letter
from supplier registered with MTIB.
v)
Company with a Status of Sole Proprietorship / Partnership (Registration
under the Registration of Business Ordinances, 1956):-
a)
Only Bumiputera Company is allowed to apply.
b)
Applicants must submit Bank's Guarantee Letter worth of RM10,000 after
the approval of application by the Registration Committee Meeting (RCM).
vi)
Company with a Status of Partnership (Pte Ltd) (Registered Under Companies
Act 1965):-
a) Bumiputera
equity must be not less than 51%.
b) Applicant must have paid-up capital not less than RM50,000.
c) Applicant must submit a copy of management agreement signed by all
business partners comprising Bumiputera and non Bumiputera.
vii)
Company with a Status of Non Bumiputera Ownership
a)
Applicant must have paid-up capital not less than RM250,000.
viii)
Company with Foreign Equity
a) Only company with 51% Malaysian equity is qualified to apply.
b) Applicant must have paid-up capital not less than RM250,000.
REGISTRATION
FEE
Successful application is subjected to an annual registration fee of:-
i)
Timber Exporter RM200.00
ii)
Timber Supplier RM200.00
iii)
Timber Processor RM200.00
iv)
Jetty Operator RM200.00
v)
Timber Grader RM 50.00
