 Briefing on Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
The Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) will be organising a briefing on FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS(FTAs) in relation to the timber industry on 9 June 2006 in Kuala Lumpur and on 21 June 2006 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. All players in the wood-based industry are invited to attend the briefing. Registration form is to be submitted latest by 5 June 2006, for the briefing in Kuala Lumpur and by 20 June 2006 for Sabah, by fax or e-mail to noorzakiah@mtib.gov.my. Places are limited to the first 100 registered participants in Kuala Lumpur and 50 in Sabah. Admission is free.
Objectives of the briefing
To inform the industry on the latest development on FTAs which Malaysia is currently negotiating & its implications on the timber industry
To disseminate information on the status of the current FTAs negotiations between Malaysia- Pakistan, the USA and ASEAN-India & Korea.
To discuss current trade issues in an increasingly liberalised global economy.
